Two Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) F-35A Lightning II aircraft from No. 3 Squadron flew over Roy Hill before landing at Ginbata airport recently.

This visit included an upskilling exercise as part of the Defence Strategic Review, directing the RAAF to improve operability throughout the north of Australia.

The stop-over provided an opportunity for Ginbata staff to familiarise themselves with the aircraft in the event they are required to assist.

It also offered a chance to strengthen the relationship between two of Australia’s essential industries – mining and defence.

Following the fly over the MSA and PSA, the pair of jets landed at Ginbata, greeted by staff members keen to get up close and inspect aircraft at the forefront of air combat technology.
