Roy Hill Early Careers Programs offer a raft of training and development opportunities designed to help you forge a rewarding career within a world-class mining operation.

All our Early Careers Programs are supported by a dedicated team who will guide you through the program requirements and take care of your health and safety.

Apprentices and trainees

Apprenticeship Program

Qualified tradespeople are some of the most in-demand employees in the mining industry. As part of our Roy Hill Apprenticeship Program, you’ll complete a nationally recognised trade qualification in a specialist area of your choice. Our structured four-year paid program is open to anyone of working age. As a Roy Hill apprentice, you will be given generous study time, opportunities to broaden your training and access to specialist trade-specific mentors across the business.
Apprenticeships you can apply for include:

  • electrical
  • fixed plant mechanical fitter
  • automotive-electrical
  • automotive-mechanical
  • mobile plant diesel fitter
  • heavy fabrication
  • communications

Apprenticeships are fly-in-fly-out (FIFO), with the opportunity to apply for permanent roles at the end of the program.

Traineeship Program

Roy Hill’s two-year paid Traineeship Program provides the foundation you need to pursue a successful career in mining. Our traineeships combine classroom learning at a registered training facility in Perth, with field training at Roy Hill operation sites with qualified trades people and specialist mine operators relevant to your studies.
Available traineeships include:

  • Certificate II in Mechanical Engineering
  • Dual certification in Certificate III in Resource Processing and Certificate III in Surface Extraction Operations

Traineeships are FIFO and provide you with priority access to Roy Hill’s Apprenticeship Program and opportunities to apply for permanent roles at the end of the program.

University students and graduates

Graduate Program

Our two-year Graduate Program combines on-the-job learning, formal training and a strong support network to kickstart your mining career in the best way possible. As a future leader in our business, you will be mentored by specialists across Roy Hill as you rotate through different sites, projects and teams to build your technical capabilities and discover where your talents lie. Your personal and professional growth will be supported through graduate workshops, development events, peer groups and a dedicated career advisory team.

To be eligible, you must have completed an undergraduate or postgraduate degree within the last two years.

Graduate roles may be Perth-based or FIFO, with opportunities to apply for permanent roles at the end of the program.

Vacation Program

If you are studying an undergraduate or postgraduate degree, join our Vacation Program which runs for 12 weeks from November to February. Get paid and get first-hand experience working on mining projects with specialist operators and business professionals in your area of study. This is a unique opportunity for you to be mentored by some of the most experienced leaders in the industry, build valuable industry contacts and potentially earn a spot in our Graduate Program upon completion of your studies.

Vacation placements may be Perth-based or FIFO.
