Revised Proposal for the Roy Hill Iron Ore Mine
The Revised Proposal for the Roy Hill Iron Ore Mine (Revised Proposal) (Ministerial Statement 1189) was approved by the Western Australian Minister for Environment on the 19 May 2022 under the Environmental Protection Act 1986 (WA) (EP Act).
The Revised Proposal expands the existing Roy Hill Iron Ore mine (previously approved under Ministerial Statements 824 and 829) to include amendments to mine pit boundaries; additional waste rock landforms; stockpiles; borefields for dewatering and water supply as well as re-injection bores and evaporation ponds; additional surface water structures; and additional supporting infrastructure.

The Roy Hill Iron Ore Mine expansion, Pilbara Region, WA (EPBC 2018/8330) (Revised Proposal) was approved by the Department of Climate Change, Energy and the Environment on the 5 August 2022 under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (Cth) (EPBC Act).
Under the EPBC 2018/8330 approval Roy Hill iron Ore Pty Ltd is required to seek Minister for Environment approval for a number of environmental management plans prior to specific activities commencing. Copies of the documents can be found below.
