Congratulations to the Hancock Group’s Executive Chair Dr. Gina Rinehart AO on her outstanding leadership

This year marks a very special milestone for the Hancock Prospecting Group – a celebration for Mrs. Gina Rinehart AO who has strongly led the Group for 30 years in her role as Executive Chair.

During this time, Mrs. Rinehart has led the company to become one of the most successful private mining houses in the world, not to mention the most successful private company in Australia’s history, after taking on the position of Chair when the company was not in a good position.

30 years ago also marks the first time that Mrs. Rinehart travelled to the Roy Hill site with Hancock’s Chief Geologist, Richard Parquay – a trip which would , after the tenements were granted to Hancock Prospecting, lay the foundations for decades of work and expenditure and then mega Roy Hill mine.

Despite the criticism, the naysayers and thousands and thousands of government approvals and permits, amongst other hurdles, the team worked tirelessly, took huge risks and eventually, after losing some of Roy Hill given the lack of money to meet government obligations, pulled this mega project off.

And now, 30 years later, this mega project which has created thousands of jobs, on average highest paid jobs in Australia, billions of dollars in royalties and taxes, provides hundreds of millions in payments to help our local indigenous, and, of course, the iron ore itself, critical to building and maintaining machinery, infrastructure, cities and technology around the world.

On November 24th, up at the Roy Hill mine site, guests from the Group gathered to celebrate this milestone, and west Australia’s Pilbara mining industry.

Congratulations to the Hancock Group’s Executive Chair Dr. Gina Rinehart AO on her outstanding leadership and making the company group into the well respected, company group it is today.
