Australia’s most esteemed and prestigious awards for the mining and minerals processing industry have recognised Roy Hill’s outstanding technical achievements at a gala event overnight.
Celebrating their 20th anniversary, the 2023 Prospect Awards presented Roy Hill with Australian Mine of the Year and the Innovative Mining Solution Award for our world-first autonomous haul truck solution( the open-source system created provides software that can be retrofitted on different truck models), creating the world’s largest single Autonomous Haulage System which was spearheaded by Executive Chairman Mrs Gina Rinehart AO.
Announced in January 2023, the rolling expansion will see the entire mixed fleet of 96 conventional haul trucks transition to driverless operation while supporting those impacted by the project, with reskilling and redeployment programs in place to help operators transition to new roles.
“This is an example of Roy Hill using innovative solutions to meet the challenges of an extremely tight labour market, while supporting our people with retraining and helping them transition into other critical roles of the business. We thank our Executive Chairman Gina Rinehart for her leadership on this and our staff for their valued work on this program ” said CEO Hancock Operations, Gerhard Veldsman.
