A brave crowd of 6000 turned up for some fun, festivities and colour before the heavy rain hit at the belated WA Day festival in Busselton on Saturday.
Entertainment was provided by Chris Murphy with activities and attractions for little kids and big kids alike, with Celebrate WA Day, Roy Hill, Lotterywest, Cloutz Events Hire and Fliptease Circus Events bringing the day together.
A Celebrate WA spokesperson said despite the wet weather, a large crowd enjoyed the action.
“More than 6000 people attended the WA Day event in Busselton on Saturday, embracing the vibrant spirit of our community celebration,” they said.
“Organisers said that due to rain and high winds the drone show was unable to proceed, but the fireworks display lit up the Busselton jetty and was a fitting way to celebrate the community event.”
Cloutz Events Hire owner Zac Cloutman said after the long-weekend Perth festival was cancelled due to bad weather, the organisers wanted to bring the event down south.
“I reckon the turnout is pretty good. Everyone’s braved the weather,” he said.
