Kal Tire to pump up Roy Hill’s tyres again

TYRE management specialist Kal Tire has won a five-year contract to provide mining tyre management and maintenance services to the Roy Hill iron ore mine in Western Australia’s Pilbara. Along with the nearly 30 team members Kal Tire will bring to Roy Hill it will also deploy its Tyre Operations Management System. The tyre maintenance planning system is designed to help customers achieve fleet use, tyre life and safety goals. With Kal Tire's Maple Program Roy Hill will be able to quantify and report on the emissions savings of Ultra Repairs.

Kal Tire’s Mining Tire Group in Australia announced it has earned a five-year contract to provide tyre management and maintenance services at the Roy Hill mine in Western Australia. The Mining Tire Group will begin mobilising at the open pit iron ore mine on April 1, bringing nearly 30 Kal Tire team members to the site to deliver the highest standards of safety and operational performance. Kal Tire’s Maple Program allows sites like Roy Hill to quantify and report on the carbon emissions savings of utilising Ultra Repairs technology and meet environmental, social and governance (ESG) goals. “Operating in a way that puts ESG at the forefront is very much a priority for our customers in Australia, so we’re proud to offer solutions at Roy Hill that enhance safety, sustainability and productivity,” Rigney said.

POSCO, Hancock partner for low-carbon steel materials production

South Korea’s top steelmaker POSCO Co. and Hancock Prospecting Pty Ltd, a leading Australian mining firm, are slated to collaborate in low-carbon steel material manufacturing. The partnership is to build a foundation for a hydrogen-based steelmaking process and carbon neutrality. POSCO is also partnering with Hancock for multiple projects in Australia. The two firms and other partners have embarked on a feasibility study on the Hardey iron ore project in the West Pilbara owned by the Australian Premium Iron (API) joint venture, according to industry sources on March 10.
